Toastmasters International 2025 Convention

Toastmasters International 2025 Convention

Welcome to Four Seasons Toastmasters!

Hendersonville, N.C.

February 7, 2025:  These photos show three prepared speakers and two sets of improv speakers on one jampacked, inspirational meeting day.  Top right has Joe Jacques presenting tips for selling on Ebay and top left has Don and Judy Groff with improv on surveying Hurricane Helene home damage and repair.  The middle photo has Jeanne Resen presenting a speech on getting a free cruise as a speaker.  The bottom left has an improv by Anna  Hoy  and Sally Jones, on hurricane damage outside the home, and bottom right has Betty McCallister speaking on an unexpected summer invitation.

The first May meeting of  2024, we were blessed with a powerfu guest speaker, Robbie Greene, who practiced his "What is Water?" contest speech.  He went on the next day to win third place in the whole district of about 80 Toastmaster clubs.  On the right he delivers at the conference, here seen over the shoulder of former District 37 Director Rhonda Walthall.

Our Toastmasters club has in-person meetings each week and zooms on occasion.  We are a blend of two basic agenda formats with the aim of offering a strong balance of prepared public speaking, impromptu speaking, and care in listening and leadership.

You are invited to be our guest in either medium and format.  We are thankful to be welcomed back to 900 Blythe St., at the fellowship hall of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Our in-person meeting is held from 8:00-9:00 AM every Friday.  Feel free to come a few minutes early and stay a few minutes late to get better acquainted.

If you have other questions now or for the future, you are welcome to use the contact email at the bottom of the page.

For those of you not able to attend in person, our Zoom link info is below.

The Zoom operates every other week, alternate weeks as on 11-22 and 12-13 and 1-3-25.  These are all a hybrid.  In-person only meetings are held alternate weeks, as on 11-15 and 12-6 and 12-20.  These dates can also be seen on the Club Calendar tab.

You are always welcome to show up in person.

Rotary-Toastmaster Co-operation Produces “Trash”
Four Seasons Rotary and Four Seasons Toastmasters first joined together to pick up lots of trash on Haywood Road in Hendersonville on May 8, 2021. The latest was August 2024.  Ten hardy souls spent two hours in cleaning up the road shoulders on the jointly Adopt-A-Highway 1.5 mile stretch of NC-191 near Rugby Middle School and West Henderson High School. This clean-up has been ongoing for usually each quarter of the year eversince.  Updates are on the "Service Club Partnership Tab."

Table Topics  (impromptu speeches) are at the other end of the spectrum from the normal prepared speeches.  Two table topic sessions were held over a two-month period to help members gain skill and to help prepare contestants for the division and then the district contest in May 2021.  Katie Dean, only a member since February, was the division champion to represent FSTM in the May district contest.  Katie left Toastmasters to begin her campaigning for Congress and went on to place second in the Democratic Primary and is now 11th District Democratic Chair.  Go Katie!  (Republicans and Independents are also welcome in our club!)

A public relations venture was participating in the first nighttime Christmas Parade in Henderson County in 40 years on December 3, 2022.  More is captured on our Milestone tab.  Our entry in an earlier parade had a bear at the lectern addressing other bears in audience chairs.  Like for the nighttime excursion, members walked alongside to hand out flyers advertising our Toastmaster club.

Toastmaster officers that were inducted  in June 2024 are the following: President, Bob Hess;  VP Education, Stan Coss; VP of Membership, Betty McCallister; Sergeant at Arms, Joe Jacques; Treasurer, Don Groff; Secretary, Barbara Loomis.

(Duties of each office are posted in Meet Your Officers)

Tour D’Apple 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

This shows workers from Four Seasons Rotary on the left and workers from Four Seasons Toastmasters on the right.  At top left are the four races, from 25 to 100 miles.  This rest stop even had a bike repair shop handy.  For more colorful biker costumes and a write up on the event go to the blog.  Rotary and Toastmasters both started in about 1905, and in 2000 internationally there was a partnership formed for mutual benefit.

This below is when we were strictly on Zoom.

The Meeting of April 18, 2025

A Fellowship & Breakfast &Toastmaster Meeting were all held simultaneously and delightfully at Judy and Don Groff's wonderful venue at 8 AM on Good Friday, April 18, 2025.  And what a Good Friday it was!  More photos and more details can be found in the Food & Celebration tab.
